Feature Request: HotReload-vs-HotRestart file patterns

Super useful plugin! I had a bash script to do this, but (neo)vim integration is much better.

One thing I miss from my script, is the ability to set a file or directory matching rule, where a HotRestart is needed (for example files having generated code / transformers).

It would be nice to have that as a vimrc setting and/or run-time option.

Oh, I see what you mean. I can think of a couple of different ways to manage this:

• Set a variable on the buffer itself, i.e. b:flutter_reload_type='hot-restart'
• Have some sort of global list of files that should be hot-refreshed instead of hot-reloaded.

Any other ideas? Neither of these sounds necessarily super convenient - so I'm open to input.

Hmmm, yes of course you are right, a glob/path list would have to be global (my script is per-project, although the path matching in all my own apps is just "*/lib/stores/*.dart". So that could be global for me but it wouldn't automatically work in other apps with a different layout).

Maybe option 1 would work in a pinch, or if there was some way to make that "sticky" based on the last action from the hotkeys (e.g. if you ever manually trigger a hot-restart from a file, then keep using hot-restart for that file)?

This is the article where I got the inspiration for my script (before then, I never really knew why I needed hot restarts sometimes, but this seems to consistently do the right thing. Maybe there are some changes where I am HotRestart'ing unnecessarily, but I like being able to not need to think about it):

I'm also wondering - what if I make it possible to switch off hot-reload-on-save for a given buffer? And then you could just use a keybinding to trigger a hot restart, like <leader>fr or something.

That could work too. Maybe less surprising than "sticky".

One thing I should note is that this option requires a bit more conscious thought, (vs configuring the paths one time, per-repo or globally). Also in that case the repo owner could determine the right path settings and everyone else on the team could benefit.

There are additional vim plugins like this one, that could load per-repo settings to override a global path?

At this point, I don't plan to implement this, as using keymappings is already convenient enough IMO, and doesn't require much rewriting of the existing plugin.

I have this:

autocmd FileType dart nnoremap <buffer> FHR :FlutterHotRestart<cr>
autocmd FileType dart nnoremap <buffer> fhr :FlutterHotReload<cr>

I'll leave this open as "help-wanted," though, in case anybody else needs this and would like to contribute the necessary functionality.

EDIT: I also want to keep the plugin relatively minimal, and not require much configuration to install/set up.
