What is going on with PHP 8.5 right now?

It seems there are only RC tags right now, even though 8.5.0 (final) has been out for more than three weeks. Moreover, the RCs are tagged as 8.5.1, which is a version that isn't even released yet (8.5.0 is still current).

Yes, there are 8.5.1RC tags, but there are also 8.5.1RC releases of PHP:

• https://github.com/php/php-src/releases/tag/php-8.5.1RC1
• https://github.com/php/php-src/releases/tag/php-8.5.1RC2

It's normal for RC versions to be released before the final release of a version ;)

Hmm, I guess I forgot to check more pages when searching for 8.5. It lists the RCs first, perhaps because they have the wrong version number (8.5.1 > 8.5.0).

Why do you think they have the wrong version number?

Because I presumed RCs only apply to minor versions, not patch versions.
